DURYSTA®  GLAUCOMA  IMPLANT

Durysta® is an FDA-approved dissolvable implant that is inserted directly into the front of the eye. It contains bimatoprost, the active ingredient in Lumigan (one of the first line eye drops used to treat glaucoma). The implant itself continuously releases the medication over a 6 month period as it dissolves.

The effect of the medication may last up to 18 months, depending on the person. It may be used along with eye drops, and laser treatments, or in place of them. Durysta® is implanted in the office. It is a painless procedure that takes about 2 minutes. There is no preparation and no recovery time. The eye may feel irritated, like something is in it for 1-2 days.
